Baker Street Pedestrian Improvements

A working group of stakeholders that will be impacted by increased vehicle, bus and pedestrian traffic on Baker Street between Centennial Olympic Park Drive and Marietta Street associated with the new Georgia Aquarium and relocated World of Coca-Cola and ongoing activities of Centennial Olympic Park and the Atlanta Children’s Museum, have come together to begin conceptual design work for anticipated pedestrian improvements for this corridor.

This project is intended to evaluate, analyze and design near-term improvements primarily for two items:

1. The creation of a mid-block pedestrian crossing to be located between Centennial Olympic Park Drive and Luckie Street, on axis with the current Centennial Olympic Park main north-south walkway and north gate and the planned shared entry plaza of the Georgia Aquarium and World of Coca-Cola.

2. Safety enhancements and beautification of the existing intersections at Centennial Olympic Park Drive and Luckie Street/Park Avenue West.

Work is just beginning and more details will be available as work progresses.
