CAP Annual Meeting Moves to Hilton Atlanta

March 20, 2008

CAP Annual Meeting Location Changed to Hilton Atlanta

It took a 130-mph tornado to slow Downtown Atlanta down, but just for a little while, according to A.J. Robinson, President of Central Atlanta Progress and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District.

“Today, we had to face the fact that we’re going to have to move our 1,400 person Annual Meeting, originally scheduled for next Wednesday, March 26 at the Georgia World Congress Center, to a new venue. With less than a week to pull that off, I’d call that being very adaptive.”

According to Robinson, the organization’s Annual Meeting will go on, as planned, next Wednesday, but will now be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Atlanta Hotel at 255 Courtland Street. “Their staff has bent over backwards to help us out, and we appreciate it.”

“We all have to understand it will take a little while for things to settle out as the storm damage is repaired. It means that everyone has to be adaptive to the current changes, particularly street closings,” said Robinson.

As for the structural part of getting Downtown Atlanta back to normal, Robinson indicated that most of the window removal in major buildings impacted should be completed by this weekend, thus diminishing the public safety hazards that closed major streets and sidewalks. “By meeting time, I predict most, if not all of our streets will be opened.”

“It has taken a little time, but behind those boarded windows, Downtown is humming right along,” said Robinson.
