Brewster Place Comes to Sweet Auburn

In an effort to bring the spirit of The Women of Brewster Place musical to the Atlanta community, the Alliance Theatre has created a community beautification and mural project on historic Auburn Avenue.

In partnership with the City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs, Hands On Atlanta and BBDO Atlanta, the Alliance Theatre has commissioned artist Malaika Favorite to create a mural that embodies the symbolism and inspiration of the musical.  The mural will be located on historic Auburn Avenue on the wall of the world-famous Royal Peacock, an icon in the neighborhood since the early 20th century.

The mural project brings together volunteers from Alliance Theatre, Hands On Atlanta, Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (G-CAPP) and the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Golden Age Clubs.  Volunteers will clean up the area, plant flowers and paint the Brewster Place mural.
