GDOT Downtown Connector Study

May 19, 2003

Georgia Department of Transportation logoThe Georgia Department of Transportation is conducting a study of the Downtown Connector (from 10th Street to I-20 and along I-20 from Boulevard to Lowery Boulevard). The study will identify and evaluate potential improvements to relieve traffic congestion.

Recommendations will focus on immediate and applicable solutions that can be put in place by September 2003.

Samples of the proposed recommendations include:

  • Limiting the Edgewood Avenue on-ramp to a HOV only ramp
  • Adding ramp meters to Freedom Parkway and Spring Street on-ramps
  • Eliminating access to I-75/85 southbound from the Williams Street slip ramp (at Spring Street)

Please attend a public information meeting to learn more about the effort and more importantly, to share your comments and suggestions.
