City of Atlanta |
There's a new level of commitment and excitement coming to Downtown Atlanta,
highlighted by a strong partnership between the City
of Atlanta and Central Atlanta
Progress.
We want to tell you what our partnership has started and will be continuing
over the next one hundred days, and just as important, how you can join
with us.
On June 16 we will roll out a comprehensive 100-day Downtown Initiative,
that will focus the collective interest of the City, Central Atlanta Progress,
the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District and others, on key issues that
will change Downtown in many positive ways.
The City and CAP/ADID will unveil the full extent of the 100-day Downtown
Initiative at a June 16 lunchtime event at Woodruff Park. Join us at 11:30
a.m. in Woodruff Park when Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin will launch
this historic initiative, followed by a noon-time performance by Atlanta
blues legend Francine Reed.
You can expect to see within the Initiative collective efforts and stepped up attention on:
- Woodruff Park, with daily entertainment on weekdays during the 100-day period. Blues great Francine Reed performs June 16;
- Quality-of-life issues like panhandling and street behavior;
- Changes in the way our sidewalks and streetscapes look and feel through more cleaning, flower baskets, banners, bike racks and reduction of illegal newspaper boxes;
- City support of plans to refurbish the former Winecoff Hotel; and
- A long-range planning project to revitalize the Georgia Aquarium and new World of Coca-Cola areas as well as Downtown's prime retail corridor.
Now, how can you help? If your business or organization can assist in the areas of public safety, sidewalks and streetscapes, financial backing, or something just as easy as notifying your employees about the Woodruff Park entertainment, then you can help return the belief in Downtown's future.
Please contact CAP at (404)
658-1877 to let us know what part you will play in our re-commitment to
Downtown. Also, we you suggest you bookmark this
web site to check for regular updates on activities and the 100-day
Downtown Initiative. |
