A ‘Willkommen’ for New Biergarten

Downtown Atlanta is about to “willkommen” a new restaurant.

Legacy Property Group LLC plans to open Der Biergarten, a German restaurant and beer garden, by Sept. 18 at 300 Marietta St. in the Luckie Marietta District, in time for Oktoberfest, the holy grail of German festivals.

Der Biergarten, in partnership with co-owner and German native Wolfgang Hartert, will offer a cuisine in short supply in metro Atlanta, said David Marvin, president of Legacy Property Group.

“We recognized that the beer garden ... a trend in the rest of the country, hasn’t landed in Atlanta,” he said.
