AC Hotel Atlanta Downtown Makes its Mark with Lively Debut Celebration

European-inspired lifestyle hotel opens its doors to officially join the downtown Atlanta neighborhood

Atlanta, GA – July 11, 2017AC Hotel® Atlanta Downtown, the design-driven lifestyle hotel centrally located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, welcomed guests from across the Atlanta area and beyond on Thursday, June 15, to celebrate its official debut. Following a yearlong transformation led by Peachtree Hotel Group, the hotel partnered with Atlanta nonprofit Living Walls and other local businesses, groups and entrepreneurs to create an experiential evening for community stakeholders and other special guests.

To begin the celebration, an introductory ceremony was held at the hotel’s main entrance, featuring remarks from Peachtree Hotel Group executives including chief operations officer Mitul Patel, chief investment officer Jatin Desai and chief executive officer Greg Friedman. Special guest William Pate, president of the Atlanta Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, also joined to give remarks highlighting the impact of AC Hotel Atlanta Downtown as a catalyst in attracting key players in the travel and tourism industry to the downtown community.

Following a Cava toast in celebration of AC Hotels by Marriott®’s Spanish heritage and European-inspired design, guests were welcomed to the event with an interactive “butler wall” by Atlanta based event catering and design firm Bold Catering & Design and live musical entertainment from The Mad Violinist, Ashanti Floyd.

Making their way into the AC Lounge, guests were greeted with AC Hotels by Marriott’s open-concept layout featuring modern furnishings and sophisticated décor, and complemented by signature beverages provided by Cathead Vodka, Lazy Guy Distillery and Monday Night Brewing. Steps away on the hotel’s dynamic outdoor patio, a second satellite bar delighted guests with garden-fresh cocktails courtesy of Goza Tequila. By highlighting a variety of southeastern spirits brands, AC Hotel Atlanta Downtown signified its commitment to the community and local partnerships, differentiating the hotel and further marking its entry into the Atlanta market.

Dedicated to the Atlanta arts community, AC Hotel Atlanta Downtown also partnered with Living Walls, a local nonprofit focused on changing perspectives of public spaces through modern street art, for the event. The partnership resulted in a virtual reality experience by local VR company IMBIBE showcasing “AC Hotel Atlanta Downtown’s Guide to ATL Street Art,” an experience that transported guests via virtual reality to several Living Walls murals in the downtown area without leaving the AC Lounge. Artist Shaun Thurston, creator of several popular murals across Atlanta, also completed a live painting during the event, which was auctioned off at the end of the night to benefit the Living Walls’ 2017 and 2018 public street art initiatives.
