Atlanta hires CAP Member Perkins+Will to plan future of Turner Field area

Architectural firm Perkins + Will is going to help plan the future of the Turner Field area with grant financing approved by the Atlanta City Council.

Council members voted late Monday to use a $287,000 grant from the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Livable Center Initiative for consulting services needed to develop a plan for the neighborhoods surrounding Turner Field after the Atlanta Braves leave for a new stadium being built in Cobb County. The grant will be matched by funding from the city’s Department of Planning and Community Development, Invest Atlanta and the Annie E. Casey Foundation.

The council’s action came less than a week after the Braves formally notified the city they will not be renewing their lease at Turner Field when it expires at the end of next year.
