Atlanta Mixologists Celebrated in ACVB Centennial Cocktail Contest

April 29,2013

The Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) launches the latest event in a yearlong, 100th anniversary celebration with the ACVB Centennial Cocktail Contest.

Sixty-seven restaurants have submitted original recipes to compete for bragging rights as ACVB’s Centennial Cocktail. Beginning Friday, April 26, residents and visitors are encouraged to explore these limited-time offerings from a wide range of ACVB restaurant and nightlife members. Then, head to Atlanta.net/cocktailcontest through July 11 to vote for a favorite.

Atlanta’s mixologists have become an acclaimed part of the city’s culinary prowess, drawing praise from specialty beverage publications and receiving James Beard nominations.

Finalists will showcase their concoctions at ACVB’s Connect networking event on July 11 at Opera nightclub where ACVB members will have the chance to sit, sip and vote for their favorite creation alongside a panelist of industry judges. Winners will be announced that evening at the Connect and awarded a cash prize of $1,913, representing the year that ACVB was established, as well as a complimentary, one-year ACVB membership.

The Centennial Cocktail Contest is a project of the ACVB Restaurant Committee led by Stuart Fierman of Fifth Group Restaurants. The committee works to create a seamless partnership between ACVB member restaurants and the city’s thriving hospitality industry.

The ACVB Centennial Cocktail Contest is generously sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company and United Distributors. For details on participating restaurants and nightlife members, their limited-time offerings and to vote for ACVB’s Centennial Cocktail, visit Atlanta.net/100years.

Celebrating 100 years of hospitality, Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau is a private, nonprofit organization created to favorably impact the Atlanta economy through conventions and tourism.
