Atlanta Streetcar Night Training Exercise Will Close Streets Near I-75/85 November 10

November 10,2014

On Monday, November 10, 2014, the Atlanta Streetcar will conduct a training exercise that will close several streets in the area of the Vehicle Maintenance Facility between the hours of 7 P.M. and 1 A.M.

The street closures are:

  • Fort Street, between Edgewood Avenue and Auburn Avenue
  • Bell Street, between Edgewood Avenue and Auburn Avenue
  • Auburn Avenue, between Bell Street and Hilliard Street
  • Edgewood Avenue, between Fort Street and Hilliard Street

Additionally, right turns from the State Route 401/403 (I-75/85) Exit Ramp to Edgewood Avenue will be restricted.

The Atlanta Police Department will handle all traffic control, and detour signs will be posted to assist motorists.

The exercise will begin at 9 p.m. and go until the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 11. Motorists are advised to find alternate routes while the exercise is taking place.

Motorists are also reminded that vehicles along the streetcar route need to be parked fully within the white lines of the parking spaces at all times, and that double-parking is not allowed. Illegally parked vehicles along the route will be ticketed and/or towed.

The Atlanta Streetcar is a collaborative effort among Atlanta’s political, business and transit communities to bring to fruition critical infrastructure that will connect the metro area and the greater region. Partnership and innovation, key qualifiers for the federal government’s TIGER II Discretionary Grant program, are exhibited by this joint effort involving the City of Atlanta, the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District, and MARTA.
