Centennial Olympic Park Has Family Fun On the 4th

June 29,2011

Centennial Olympic Park’s 4th of July Celebration will offer fun and entertainment for the entire family, including five hours of free music and Atlanta’s best fireworks display. The park gates open at 2 p.m. and the musical entertainment begins at approximately 4 p.m. Visitors can relax on the Great Lawn and cool off in the world famous Fountain of Rings. The entertainment lineup includes von Grey, a local group of four sisters, 12 instruments, family-harmonies, and captivating performances that creates a musical experience that feels bigger than life.

Joining in the act is The Regulars Band, a funky, soulful Atlanta rock group led by a brother and sister team. The two share lead vocals and create awesome harmonies throughout each song. At 6:30 park visitors can hear theKey, a Georgia group that embraces the modern music scene while adding its own flavor reminiscent of the late-90’s alternative era. Crystal Bowersox rounds out the musical acts, and is one of the most recognized young voices in America following her runner-up finish in last year’s "American Idol" competition.

Each year, thousands of people come to Centennial Olympic Park to celebrate Independence Day. MARTA is strongly encouraged for transportation. Large coolers, glass containers, pets, fireworks, weapons, large umbrellas, tents and grills are prohibited. All bags are subject to search. Alcohol may not be brought into the park; however, it is available for purchase inside, along with food and nonalcoholic beverages. The Fountain of Rings will be available from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Additionally, park visitors under 16 years of age are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian 18 years or older at all times.
