Central Atlanta Progress Honors Andrew Young, George Turner

On Tuesday, Central Atlanta Progress and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District held their annual meeting where Atlanta leaders including Ambassador Andrew Young and George Turner were honored.

The event at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta drew around 900 people.

Central Atlanta Progress president A.J. Robinson spoke about downtown’s current momentum and the projects that are shaping its future.

“Atlanta in the midst of an urban renaissance and downtown is the epicenter of this activity,” Robinson said.

Young was presented with the 2017 Dan Sweat Award. The Marcus Downtown Economic Impact Award was given to Georgia State University. The Turner Community Leadership Award was bestowed to George Turner, retired Atlanta Police Department Chief.

Among those in attendance were Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Atlanta Falcons President and CEO Rich McKay, who is the new chairman of Central Atlanta Progress.
