Could the Masquerade stay at Underground Atlanta?

When the Masquerade left its long-time home on North Avenue last November and moved into Kenny’s Alley at Underground Atlanta, it was pegged as a temporary location while the music venue figured out its long-term plans.

The Masquerade had hoped to find a permanent home at 1421 Fairmont Ave. in Atlanta’s trendy Westside. But, those plans ran into trouble including opposition from homebuilder Brock Built, which has a nearby single-family housing development.

Now, it looks like a deal is in the works to keep the Masquerade at Underground Atlanta.

“We want them to stay put for a long time,” Kevin Rogers, developer officer with WRS Inc., the new owner of Underground Atlanta, wrote in an email to Atlanta Business Chronicle on Friday. “We’ve been working closely with them for some time, and at this point, have an agreement in principle worked out that would do just that — keep them there for a long time.

“They do a great job and Brian [McNamara, the owner of the Masquerade] is great to work with," Rogers added.
