Delta Bolsters Partnership with National Center for Civil and Human Rights

Delta Air Lines recently announced Scarlet Pressley Brown, currently Delta's director - Community and External Affairs, will begin working for the National Center for Civil and Human Rights March 1 as part of a loaned executive program. Her title at the Center will be vice president - Marketing.

"One of the most important ways Delta contributes to the communities in which we live and work is through the direct, personal involvement of our executives with organizations whose missions align with Delta's values," said Tim Mapes, Delta's senior vice president - Marketing. "Scarlet has been a part of the Delta family for 12 years. We are very proud of the contributions she has made on behalf of Delta, particularly in our hometown of Atlanta and look forward to watching the impact she will have at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights."

"With the Center's groundbreaking coming up in June, the timing of Scarlet joining the team couldn't be better," said Doug Shipman, chief executive officer - National Center for Civil and Human Rights. "We have worked with Scarlet on many initiatives over the years, and we are thrilled to have a leader of her caliber joining our team. She'll be working directly with the Center's board of directors and senior staff to capitalize on the momentum we are seeing in 2012. Her senior executive leadership is sure to prove invaluable."

Delta previously pledged $1 million to support the National Center for Civil and Human Rights' current programming and planned facility in downtown Atlanta.

The National Center for Civil and Human Rights, scheduled to open in 2014, will feature permanent collections, timely exhibitions and interactive education opportunities to engage visitors in the historical and current struggle to secure and express human rights. The Center will be located in Atlanta's Pemberton Place adjacent to Centennial Olympic Park, The New World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Aquarium.
