Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week 2010 Satisfies Atlantans

September 28,2010

BIGGER, BETTER AND MORE FILLING THAN EVER!

ATLANTA – There wasn’t an empty stomach, or wallet, to be found after Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week 2010. The combination of downtown’s chicest restaurants mixed with two weeks of special discounted menu options once again was a great success! Economic times have been tough, but patrons showed they know a good deal when they see it and were able to get a taste of some of Atlanta’s finest food without breaking the bank. With thousands of reservations made throughout the two weeks, Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week demonstrated what a true sensation it has become since its start in 2002.

“Downtown Atlanta Restaurant week is the perfect opportunity for people to experiment with different restaurants they don’t normally frequent,” remarked Ed Baker, Publisher for Atlanta Business Chronicle, a sponsor of this year’s event. “When else can you get a three-course meal at a fine dining restaurant for just $25 or $35?”

Last year proved that one week wasn’t enough to experience all the mouth-watering menu options from participating restaurants as they extended the event another week. This year Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week returned for another two weeks bigger and better than ever!

“If I had unlimited money (and a faster metabolism) I’d go out every night of the Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week,” raved Girl On The Go blogger, Jan Schroder. “It really is a fantastic way to affordably check out a new restaurant or revisit an old favorite.”

There was no better way to say farewell to summer than kick back and let someone else do the cooking, and boy, do they know how to cook! Celebrated chefs from Atlanta’s Downtown Dining District showed off in the kitchen as they composed a variety of three-course menu options.

Appetizers ranged from Crispy Calamari at Thrive to Sweet Corn Bisque at Sun Dial, and everything in between. Don’t let the price of the meals fool you…the chefs didn’t skimp when it came to entrées. Social offered a Vegetable Ratatouille “Lasagna” with Italian cheeses and Garlic Pesto, while Ray’s in the City filled the craving for a seafood plate with Grilled Salmon Oscar. All the while, restaurant-goers sipped on the signature cocktail of the week, Bacardi® Torched Cherry Blossom, created by Eric Simpkins, mixologist at DRINKSHOP in the W Atlanta Downtown. For those who somehow had room left for more, the desert menus were also out of this world with options such as Banana Tempura from Rise Sushi Lounge and Espresso Crème Brulee at Terrace on Peachtree in the Ellis Hotel. The three-course meals surely hit the spot, as did the refreshingly low-cost bill!

The 2010 Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week was sponsored by Atlanta Business Chronicle, United Distributors, Bacardi, Columbia Crest Grand Estates, AirTran Airways, ACVB, 360 Media, Inc. and Open Table.
