Downtown Atlanta Triple-Header Sunday with Atlanta Braves, Dream and Falcons

September 15,2011

In an unprecedented triple header, three of Atlanta’s major sports teams will be competing on Sunday, September 18 in Downtown Atlanta.

Kicking things off at Turner Field, the Atlanta Braves take on the New York Mets at 1:35 p.m. This game is also “Atlanta Braves Breast Cancer Awareness Day,” where the Braves – in partnership with Publix Super Markets, American Cancer Society and WellStar Health System – pay tribute to those who have both battled breast cancer. Breast cancer survivors receive one complimentary ticket to the game, a Braves Breast Cancer Awareness Day T-shirt and admission to a pre-game hospitality reception.

Next up at 3 p.m. is the No. 3-seeded WNBA team the Atlanta Dream, who face off with the Connecticut Sun at Philips Arena. This game marks the Dream’s second game in the 2011 WNBA Playoffs, and Dream fans can purchase discounted tickets with a special online promotion available at http://bit.ly/oxbJxu.

The Atlanta Falcons will round out the sports-filled day, facing off with the Philadelphia Eagles at the Georgia Dome at 8:20 p.m. This sold out game will be the first time former Falcon Michael Vick has played against Atlanta.

With a central location in Downtown Atlanta, Sunday’s events mark a rare occasion for spectators to catch more than one game in a day. All three games will be nationally-televised, and those traveling to Downtown Atlanta are encouraged to utilize MARTA, carpool or alternative means of transportation.
