Grab Your Green and Head to Underground Saturday March 12th

March 1,2011

Annual St. Patrick’s Festival Returns With Free, Family-Friendly Festivities For All

Grab your clover green marker and circle Saturday, March 12th on the calendar, because you won’t want to miss Atlanta’s largest St. Patrick’s Day celebration! Beginning at Noon, Underground Atlanta will pay tribute to Georgia’s rich Irish heritage with a day filled with traditional experiences for everyone including live music and performances, food and beverages as well as children’s activities and unique vendors. Bring your family and friends for a cultural exploration and great time surrounded by the luck of the Irish!

Also beginning at Noon, the 129th Annual St. Patrick’s Parade will head down Pryor Street with more than 200 participating groups. Cadillac Jack, Dallas McCade and Tug Cowart, from KICKS 101.5 and 106.7 Atlanta’s Greatest Hits, will host the parade from a special VIP Reviewing Stand at Underground Atlanta at the intersection of Pryor & Upper Alabama Streets. Tune in daily to these stations where lucky fans will get a chance to win VIP passes to enjoy the parade in this special reserved area.

During the festival, bag pipers, magicians, the Barbershop Quartet and Atlanta’s White Man Statue will roam freely through Underground Atlanta for the enjoyment of patrons! The Celtic tunes of Danny Ray Cole on fiddle, guitar, banjo, mandolin, bagpipes and harmonica will also fill the air. For those 21 and over, make plans to meet friends in Kenny's Alley where there will be plenty of bands, including the U2 tribute band, DESIRE, drink specials and beads to enjoy all day long.

There will also be an opportunity to show off your juggling skills! Atlanta’s professional women’s soccer team, The Atlanta Beat, will join the festivities for fan photos and to challenge the crowd to a timed juggling competition - the lucky winner will receive a prize pack to the teams home opener game on April 9th.

Throughout the day, traditional live Irish music and performances will take place on several stages, including:
