MARTA Reopens Renovated Escalators on Southwest Side of Peachtree Center Station

MARTA has finalized a complete overhaul of three escalators on the southwest side of Peachtree Center Station and reopened them on Friday, August 24. These units, the three longest in the rail system, provide access to Atlanta Central Library, Woodruff Park, Georgia State University and hotels and restaurants along Peachtree Street. The escalators were completely rebuilt as part of MARTA’s system-wide escalator modernization program to add new safety features, improve reliability and extend the useful life of this equipment.

The two escalators that were recently closed on the northeast concourse of Peachtree Center Station remain out of service as they undergo modernization work.
