New Downtown Partner Program Attracts Strong Interest

June 27,2013

Following a June 20 launch event, Central Atlanta Progress’ (CAP) Downtown Partner Program is off to a running start with several organizations and individuals signing on to get more involved in the Downtown civic organization.

The kickoff event brought in more than 50 attendees representing many of Downtown’s small business, nonprofit organizations, and neighborhood associations. In addition to networking, the launch party featured a Southern spread from host White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails and raffle giveaways.

In the program’s kickoff month, the following groups have signed on as Downtown Partners: The Atlanta Channel, Atlanta Movie Tours, The Atrium on Sweet Auburn, Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Fillips International, Fourth Ward Neighbors, The Nature Conservancy of Georgia, and We Sell Restaurants, Inc.

“The positive reaction to the Downtown Partner program we’ve received thus far is encouraging and reflective of the diverse and vibrant business and civic community here in Downtown. We’re excited about the opportunity to have even more organizations and small businesses involved with CAP, joining nearly 300 who are already invested in the organization, through this new program,” said Dan Williams, CAP Membership Manager.

Downtown Partners have a vested interest in maintaining the vibrancy, vitality and growth of Atlanta’s city center. Annual enrollment in the program spans from June until May of the following year, providing Downtown Partner businesses and organizations exclusive access, exposure and information.

Shayne Walsey, president of Urban Enterprises, joined CAP last year and described the benefits for her company in being involved in CAP: “Through our involvement [in CAP] we are always knowledgeable about Downtown happenings and events. Our participation allows our Downtown clients to be involved in citywide programming as well as allowing us to put our clients’ programs in front of Downtown decision-makers.”
