New Hotel Checks Into Downtown Atlanta Office Tower

"Some of Atlanta’s oldest buildings are finding new life. The shortage of available space downtown has developers renovating existing office properties. According to this week’s Atlanta Business Chronicle, a 30-story office tower on downtown’s Woodruff Park is set to be converted into a mixed-use project that includes a new hotel.

Atlanta real estate developer Dion Meltzer has 34 Peachtree under contract and is planning a major renovation of the circa-1960s office building that would add a 170-room hotel to the top 12 floors. The Creations Group is a partner in the roughly $50 million project.

The property is set to close in January, with the renovation planned to commence shortly thereafter, Meltzer said. The existing office tenants would be relocated to the lower levels and the tower would undergo a major facelift that would revamp every corner, including the exterior facade."
