Some 1,000 workers are currently on site finishing the concrete, and then they will begin working on the roof.

The roof of the new stadium will have petals that open up and create an oculus that opens and closes. The scoreboard will be six stories tall and will be put in shortly after the roof.

So far, the project is only called “New Atlanta Stadium.”

Two years from now, the stadium will be the home of the Atlanta Falcons and a new major league soccer team.

“We’re thrilled about where we are with the project now. It’s amazing to me that we only broke ground here 11 months ago,” Falcons owner Arthur Blank said.

The team and the city hope the nearly $1.5 billion invested will pay off by attracting big events.

“We’re bidding on the Super Bowl. We’ve got the Final Four. We’re finalists for the College Football Championship in 2018. I think this building will do that,” Falcons President Rich McKay said.
