Philips Arena Unveils Plans for First of its Kind Restaurant
Atlanta’s top ranked concert and events venue, Philips Arena, revealed plans today for a new $2 million restaurant. The new restaurant, RED, will be open before, during and after Hawks games and other ticketed events beginning February 2012.
“Creating a one-of-a-kind sit-down dining experience that caters to our entire fan base is something that we are pleased to now offer at Philips Arena,” stated Bob Williams, president of the Atlanta Hawks and Philips Arena.
Philips Arena enlisted award-winning local design firm, The Johnson Studio, to design the new space that will seat 250 guests. Three key design elements were incorporated to make RED’s dining experience not only unique to Atlanta, but to the arena and stadium industry at large. They include: Tiered level seating within the restaurant and bar space allowing for optimal visibility of the court from inside; Terraced sit-down dining accommodations within the Arena seating bowl providing for a premium view of the action on the floor; and a centrally located show kitchen for guests to enjoy the excitement of chefs preparing meals.
“By structurally opening up the space, we are providing better views from the restaurant into the Arena and creating a new view into this innovative and exciting destination for fans throughout the Arena,” said Keith Schutz, Principal at The Johnson Studio. “RED will be a food and beverage place that guests may not want to leave.”
The unique menu, designed in collaboration with Buckhead Life Restaurant Group and President Pano Karatassos, Levy Restaurants Team and a Hawks and Philips Arena task force, features thoughtfully crafted Contemporary American items such as a Crab Cake BLT, Lollipop Chicken Wings, knife and fork steak specialties and a special Signature Burger. In addition to other traditional items, a variety of vegetarian options will also be available, creating a selection suitable for all taste palates.
