Rialto and MODA Receive Large Grants

December 9,2010

Trustees of The Charles Loridans Foundation, an Atlanta-based organization which focuses funding on smaller arts groups, has recently approved $444,500 in new grants in support of The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA-GA), the Rialto Center for the Arts, the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA), six mid-sized theatre companies, and several other Atlanta groups. In announcing these grants, Robert Edge, Chairman of The Loridans Trustees, stated that it is especially important to help our city’s arts organizations during periods of economic downturn.

The new grants include $100,000 to the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia for their successful Working Artist Project and $100,000 to the Rialto Center for the Arts in support of a Dance Initiative that will bring some of America’s finest dance troupes to the city. The Museum of Design Atlanta will receive $50,000 for support of its move to a new midtown location. Continuing the Foundation’s ten-year tradition of supporting smaller Atlanta theatre companies, Actors Express, Georgia Shakespeare, Horizon Theatre, Seven Stages, Shakespeare Tavern, and Theatrical Outfit will each receive $25,000 from Loridans.

The remaining $44,500 in new grants has been awarded to Il Brasso Magnifico; Jazz Orchestra Atlanta; the Atlanta Chamber Players, MOCA GA, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta Opera, and the Alliance Theatre.
