Sweet Auburn Curb Market Gets Federal Funds

Federal stimulus dollars are on their way to a local landmark.

The Sweet Auburn Market in Downtown Atlanta received the money to renovate the facility and hopefully create new jobs.

The HUD Deputy Secretary Ron Sims visited the Atlanta market Friday, which is undergoing energy improvements with nearly $800K in HUD Recovery Act funds.

Sims met with workers and says the Recovery Act is creating quality jobs in Atlanta.

"We want to create jobs and that was done here. We have 35 sustainable jobs here and construction jobs at this site," said Sims.

Business owners say the federal dollars for the facility make them feel secure in the future despite an uncertain economy.
