ULI- Atlanta Summit to Feature National Experts at May 24 Summit

May 11,2011

ULI-Atlanta is assembling national experts to present solutions from around the country to four issues that ULI-Atlanta believes are critical challenges currently facing not only Metro Atlanta, but the entire region: transportation, water, education and lifelong communities. Local and state stakeholders are invited to participate in discussions following the experts’ comments during “Infrastructure Summit 2011: A Region at the Crossroads,” on May 24.

ULI-Atlanta is expecting 800 people to attend the Summit, hosted at the Georgia World Congress Center on Tuesday, May 24 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. In addition to more than 50 sponsor exhibits, the Summit will include breakout sessions that will focus on each of the four critical areas following a keynote address by renowned global futurist Jake Uldrich, Other expert speakers and panelists include:
Curtis Johnson, president of The Citistates Group; Sandy Markwood, CEO, n4a; Michael Ogden, Natural Systems International; and John Horsley, executive director of the American Association of state Highway and Transportation Officials.

Local participants include Ceasar C. Mitchell, president of the Atlanta City Council, Catherine Ross, director of Georgia Tech’s Center for Quality Growth and Atlanta business, civic and urban affairs journalist Maria Saporta and senior managing director of Artemis Advisors, LLC, Dale Ann Reiss.

“This Summit will provide its attendees with details on infrastructure-related challenges facing our region, as well as solutions to these challenges,” ULI Executive Director Jeff DuFresne said. “We look forward to making this an annual event, but given the critical challenges we’re facing not only in Georgia, but Alabama and Tennessee as well, our board thought we needed to schedule our inaugural Summit this May.”

Each attendee will receive the just released Infrastructure 2011: A Strategic Priority from the Urban Land Institute (ULI). ULI and Ernst & Young jointly prepare this annual cutting-edge report.
