April Streetcar Experience: Woodruff Park Stop

Each month, we hop off the Streetcar and explore the surrounding area by foot to give you a current listing of what’s happening at our spotlighted stop.

This month, we're highlighting the Woodruff Park stop, which drops you off at Downtown's central urban greenspace. Ride the Streetcar to grab lunch, stroll around the surrounding neighborhood, and enjoy the park's amenities.

Don't forget that, if commuting to Downtown Atlanta, the Streetcar often affords great last-mile connectivity. The Peachtree Center stop along the route is also your MARTA connection point.

Do

Woodruff Park is filled with opportunities to enjoy activities that are free to the community, including bocce ball, table tennis, the fitness station, seating and free magazines in the reading room, and the iconic ATL sculptural playground - everyone's favorite place for a picture!

The park is also home to a Relay Bike Share hub and the solar-powered Commute Loot vending machine. Check out a bike, purchase any commuter tchotchkes you need, and be on your way.

Just beyond the park, be sure to check out destinations like the Rialto Center for the Arts and Theatrical Outfit at the Balzer Theater at Herren's, two of Downtown's cultural gems.

Eat

We recommend trying some newcomers to the neighborhood: Fish Bowl Poke, the Eatery at FlatironCity, East Coast Wings in 55 Park Place, and Highland Bakery in 25 Park Place.

Broad Street is a favorite Downtown lunch stop and a great way to sample a variety of foodways, including Dua, NaanStop, Rosa's Pizza, Reuben's Deli, Alibaba, Taqueria on Broad, and Best Asian Cajun.

Along Peachtree Street parallel to North Broad, you can also grab a bite to eat from Blossom Tree and Anatolia Cafe & Hookah Lounge. The folks behind Dua will soon expand their space to reach Peachtree Street with a boba tea bar.

Need caffeine? Enjoy a coffee break at Cafe Lucia, Ebrik Coffee Room, or the new Starbucks in the historic Hurt Building.

See

Enjoy the water wall on the north end of the park, and check out the park's new mural bike rack, thanks to the Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs mural bike rack project.

The original Flatiron building. It's Atlanta's oldest skyscraper and was built before the one in NYC! Now it's the recently-renovated nextgen office space, FlatironCity.

100 Peachtree has been recently renovated, and the beautiful Candler building will become a Curio hotel in 2018.
