@ Five Points MARTA Station
In the Fall of 2016, Central Atlanta Progress and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (CAP/ADID) partnered with MARTA to establish a community garden in the Upper East Plaza at Five Points Station. The garden is a pilot project born out of the MARTA Station Makeover planning effort conducted in 2015. Along with many other station enhancements at Five Points Station, the goal of the garden is to sustain community programming around the station. Additionally, the garden will also increase ridership for the MARTA system by facilitating positive experiences at the station, further encouraging a favorable rapport for the station and the surrounding environment.
Activating the station’s upper plaza with community-based gardening will achieve the goals of improving real and perceived security issues, utilizing the station’s public space, and enhancing the visual appeal of the station. It will make the station feel cleaner and safer for not only transit riders but pedestrians passing through the station.
Gardening plots are open to anyone who completes the community garden sign-up form available via the link below. Gardening plots are limited and demand from the Downtown Community may result in expanding the garden plots.
