For the first time in the event’s 11-year history, the highly anticipated Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week (DARW) will kick start a new car-free initiative called Bikes & Bites. Central Atlanta Progress (CAP) is working in tandem with the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition (ABC) to encourage diners to ride their bikes to dinner at more than 20 Downtown restaurants. Cyclists who utilize the VIP Bike Valet at 191 Peachtree Tower will receive a special incentive to return to Downtown restaurants after their Restaurant Week dining experience. To provide even more options for cyclists, CAP is installing new bike racks near Downtown restaurants to encourage more people to bike and dine.
All of the participating DARW restaurants are within walking – and biking – distance to the Downtown MARTA stations. “For an even more convenient and affordable dining experience, we invite you to take MARTA directly to a majority of the participating restaurants” said MARTA GM/CEO Dr. Beverly A. Scott. “As always, we are excited to support Central Atlanta Progress in showcasing all the great events and attractions that Downtown Atlanta has to offer.”
