Signature Cocktail

Get fired up about summertime in Atlanta and still remain cool, with the 2010 Atlanta Downtown Restaurant Week Signature Cocktail: Bacardi® Torched Cherry Blossom. Selected by a panel of bloggers, media and drink connoisseurs, this cherry-flavored concoction will be offered between July 26 and August 8 at all participating DARW restaurants, to accompany a fabulous 3-course menu for only $25 or $35.

The drink was revealed at the Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week PreVIEW Party at Ventanas. Guests sipped their cherry-tinted libations as 12 restaurants offered up tastes from their Restaurant Week menus. “It was truly a perfect evening. Everyone was able to enjoy the new cocktail – which they gushed about – and enjoy the amazing 180-degree view of the Downtown area, including many of the buildings housing participating restaurants,” says Vice President of Marketing for Central Atlanta Progress, Inc., Wilma Sothern. “Atlanta is an amazing food city, and there are some fantastic menu selections at a great affordable price. What a perfect opportunity to try something new!”

“The Bacardi® Torched Cherry Blossom is an essential ingredient for a great summertime libation in Downtown Atlanta,” says Eric Simpkins, creator of the 2010 Signature Cocktail and Mixologist at DRINKSHOP, W Atlanta Downtown’s bar focused on creating hand-crafted cocktails from fresh ingredients. “It is a great honor to contribute my bartending skills to Atlanta Downtown Restaurant Week and craft a cocktail that represents Downtown. “

Patrons who want to test bartending skills at home, here are the ingredients in this year’s specialty drink:

Bacardi® Torched Cherry Blossom:
2 oz. Bacardi® Torched Cherry™
1/2 oz. Martini & Rossi dry vermouth
1/2 oz. Martini & Rossi sweet vermouth
1/4 oz. Cherry Herring
1 dash angostura bitters

Stir over ice, strain into a martini glass or over ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with orange peel and cherry.
