Transportation Improvements

An efficient, well-managed, safe and attractive transportation system supports continued vitality and contributes to Downtown’s character. As Downtown Atlanta plans for growth and revitalization projects are being undertaken to create the appropriate infrastructure, environment and amenities necessary to support this expansion.

The following projects strive to enhance the transportation network to serve pedestrians, cyclists, auto drivers and transit users. These projects were identified during planning processes, through community feedback and during existing infrastructure analysis. Additional priorities, as well as funding sources for those projects are constantly being identified. The following projects are currently being pursued. Dow Live Earth Run for Water The Dow Live Earth Run for Water consists of a series of 6 km run/walks (the average distance many women and children walk every day to secure water) taking place over the course of 24 hours in countries around the world. Multi-Grammy winning performer Rob Thomas will perform live.

Downtown Dash for Diabetes The Downtown Dash for Diabetes is a 5K Run/Walk to raise fund and awareness for the Diabetes Association of Atlanta. This year the DASH will start in Hurt Park and travel through Downtown Atlanta to the Historic Oakland Cemetery.
