Thanks to a partnership with the Atlanta Homeward Choir and the Georgia State University Choral Union, Woodruff Park will host a free event to ring in the holiday season and celebrate connection and compassion.
Attendees will be able to enjoy an exclusive joint performance by the Atlanta Homeward Choir and the Georgia State University Choral Union, who will kick-start their yearlong collaboration to "call the housed to action.” Together, the two choral groups plan to use music as a tool to break the cycle of homelessness and reframe perceptions of homelessness in Atlanta by helping Georgia State students interact more regularly with homeless individuals. From speakers to documentaries to collaborations with other musicians and the Homeward Choir, the students will share their new understanding with the community.
The event will also feature arts and crafts courtesy of the Atlanta-Fulton Central Library, and Woodruff Park will provide all with free hot chocolate, cider, candy canes, a tree-decorating activity, and a festive gift to take home.
As an official Toys for Tots drop site, Woodruff Park encourages the community to bring new, unwrapped toys for donation, too.
The event will conclude with a celebratory lighting of the park, including the Christmas tree on the Main Lawn.
