A few years ago, Darin Givens and his wife made a major life decision. They sold one of their two cars and moved to downtown Atlanta so they could get around mostly by foot and using transit.

They brought with them their 3-year-old child.

Their decision was an unusual one for Atlanta residents, and Givens wrote about it recently at his blog, ATL Urbanist. In this conversation with reporter Kate Sweeney, Givens gives listeners a few tips on city living with kids. He also talks about how downtown spaces benefit from their youngest residents.
