Alma Cocina to Host Valentine's Day Supper Club to Benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank

February 2,2012

Show your love for your community while treating your significant other to a special lunch or dinner this Valentine’s Day at Alma Cocina.  The newest member of the Fifth Group Restaurant family is hosting the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s Supper Club dining event at lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Supper Club provides diners the pleasure of enjoying a meal at some of Atlanta’s hottest restaurants while supporting hunger relief.  Each month a different restaurant serves as host, and 20 percent of the evening’s proceeds benefits Atlanta’s Table, the prepared food rescue project of the Food Bank.

Alma Cocina’s menu offers a new approach to modern Mexican cuisine combining fresh ingredients and traditional regional influences with Latin American flavors to create a variety of vibrant dishes.  Award-winning Executive Chef Chad Clevenger’s dishes highlight his strong background in Mexican and Southwestern food.  The lunch and dinner menus are very similar with a few exceptions.  Anyone stopping by for lunch will get to choose from a list of Tortas including the Cubano, Barbacoa-Braised Short Rib, and the Chicken Adobo sandwiches or Huevos (egg dishes) including the Ranch Eggs, Steak and Eggs, and the Duck Confit Chilaquiles served with two fried eggs that are not on the dinner menu.

Dinner offers special starter items such as Smoked Pork Ribs, Pork Cheek Arepa and traditional items like Guacamole and a Salsa and Chips Sampler.  Other tasty menu items include a variety of Ceviches, soups and salads, and Taquitos.  Main plates vary from lunch to dinner but include things like Grilled Flat Iron Steak, Roasted Chicken Mole Oaxaca, Red Snapper, and for the vegetarians, Chile Rellenos.

And what Valentine’s Day meal is complete without a little sweet treat? Try the Coconut Tres Leches, Flourless Chocolate-Ancho Cake, Sweet Potato Empanadas, High Road Craft Grapefruit-Mint Sorbet or the Mexican staple Churros and 3 Sauces.

Alma Cocina is located at 191 Peachtree Street, NE, Atlanta, GA 30303. They are open seven days a week from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. for lunch and 5 p.m. - 11 p.m. for dinner.  The bar is open from 4 p.m. - 11 p.m.  For more information or to make reservations for Supper Club, call 404.986.9662 or visit www.alma-atlanta.com.
