February 23,2016

Downtown Atlanta bicyclists celebrate the opening of the Peachtree Center Avenue cycle track,
a separated bike lane.

The Atlanta Regional Commission's Green Communities program recognized five metro Atlanta communities recently for their leadership on sustainability practices and their commitment to reducing their environmental impact.

The five communities awarded 2015 Green Communities Certifications are:

  • City of Atlanta
  • City of Norcross
  • City of Peachtree Corners
  • Rockdale County
  • City of Woodstock

“These local governments are to be commended for making their communities more sustainable places,” said Kerry Armstrong, ARC chair. “Their efforts to conserve energy, reduce waste and protect natural resources set an example for the entire region.”
