Atlanta Arts & Entertainment District Unveil Plans for Downtown Makeover

November 16,2018

Earlier this week the Atlanta Arts & Entertainment District (AAED) revealed new renderings of signage and public art it plans to implement in 2019.

The renderings revealed to the public at the meeting demonstrate the way the AAED plan to use digital media, public art, nontraditional advertising and dynamic installations to enhance Atlanta’s center city, program materials state.

The AAED is a neighborhood activation and economic development project for Downtown Atlanta that combines outdoor media, local art and advertising to improve neighborhood experiences and funds cultural and public space programming in the downtown area, according to program materials. The District is managed by the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District.

The District geography is in the core of the center city, bounded generally to the west by Northside Drive, to the north by Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard, to the east by the connector and to the south by Trinity Avenue, according to program materials.

“This effort presents us a tremendous opportunity to bring activity and light to signature corridors and nodes of activity in Downtown Atlanta,” Jennifer Ball, Vice President of Planning and Economic Development for Central Atlanta Progress/the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District. “Bringing this program to life has been a true collaborative effort between ADID, the volunteers who serve on the District’s Advisory Council, Downtown property owners, and the media industry.”
