Atlanta BeltLine Receives a Federal Grant

May 10,2013

CAP Member, the Atlanta BeltLine, has landed a $600,000 federal grant to improve a portion of the planned 22-mile corridor of parks, multi-use trails and transit.

The grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, awarded this week, will go for clean-up efforts along the northeastern section of the Beltline from Monroe Drive to its terminus near Buford Highway.

Meanwhile, the Beltline will play a part in the biannual National Brownfields Conference, which opens May 15 at the Georgia World Congress Center. Beltline visionary Ryan Gravel will be the featured speaker at the conference’s opening session.

Also, conference attendees will be able to take a bus tour of the full Beltline, and Atlanta BeltLine Inc. staff members will participate in three discussion panels during the three-day event.

“We are thrilled to showcase the project to a national audience,” said Lisa Gordon, chief operating officer and interim leader of Atlanta BeltLine Inc. “We are looking forward to sharing and learning best practices with projects from around the country.”
