In a show of solidarity with medical professionals and other first responders during the coronavirus pandemic, some of Atlanta’s best-known landmarks are set to be illuminated blue tonight.

Spanning from the airport to Summerhill and Midtown, the “#LightItBlue” campaign will kick off at 8 p.m., according to Central Atlanta Progress.

Part of the nationwide #MakeItBlue movement, which is dedicated to honoring those fighting on the frontlines against COVID-19, tonight’s gesture is expected to be seen at places likes Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta City Hall, and the new Reverb by Hard Rock hotel in Castleberry Hill.

“In the face of anxiety and uncertainty, this campaign will show a massive gesture of solidarity and support across the nation,” the #MakeItBlue website says. “The American people are standing together—even from 6 feet apart—to remain stronger than ever.”

Organizers invite the public to join in the action by wearing blue or displaying blue lights at home.
