Atlanta Streetcar Announces Modified Route and Schedule in Observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday

January 14,2016

The Atlanta Streetcar will operate on a modified Weekday schedule on Monday, January 18, 2016 for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.

Streetcar service will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Monday and run until 1:30 p.m. Regular service will be suspended between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. (estimated) due to the MLK March occurring during that time.

Between 7:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. the Streetcar will run on a reduced route between Centennial Olympic Park and Dobbs Plaza.

To coordinate with planned neighborhood MLK events, the Streetcar will use Fort Street instead of Jackson Street as its eastern turn-around point between 7:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. only. Passengers should use the Dobbs Plaza stop instead of the Edgewood at Hilliard and King Historic District stops, which will be closed for the morning hours.

We recommend that riders plan ahead to prepare for anticipated heavy crowd accumulation and subsequent foot traffic at or near Atlanta Streetcar stops in the designated areas.

Regular service will resume at approximately 4:45 p.m. or as soon as traffic clears and continue until 11:00 p.m. serving all stops. Normal service hours will resume Tuesday, January 20.
