Atlanta town hall meeting to tackle homelessness

July 23,2019

Raisa Habersham, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

A town hall will be held on Wednesday in downtown Atlanta to discuss the city’s homelessness issue.

The town hall will begin 7:30 a.m. at the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame on 250 Marietta Street in downtown Atlanta. Central Atlanta Progress and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District are co-hosting the event.

The town hall will include a panel discussion on homelessness in the city. There are more than 3,000 homeless people in Atlanta in 2019, according to the annual “Point in Time Count.”

Attendees will also get to network with downtown Atlanta stakeholders, residents and business owners. CAP president A.J. Robinson and Atlanta Police will also give presentations.

“Homelessness is a complex, pressing issue for the Atlanta community, and we look forward to facilitating a candid, enriching discussion about the important work being done in this field,” Robinson said in a statement.

Attendees will be able to ask questions during an open forum portion of the town hall.
