Work to turn the Candler Building into a Curio Collection hotel by Hilton continues, but it won’t open as early as anticipated.
The hotel giant said recently that the new hotel will open its doors in the fourth quarter of 2018, a year later than previously announced. The brand did not explain the delay.
Hilton revealed its plans to turn the historic downtown office building into a 265-room hotel in February 2015. Guests can expect features such as oversized-king, double-queen and suite rooms.
The main level of the hotel will showcase the building’s Georgia-white marble grand staircase, original Tiffany windows, a restaurant and a bar, the chain said.
Built in 1906, the Candler Building, which is on is on Peachtree Street just north of Woodruff Park, was Atlanta’s first steel skyscraper. It was developed by Coca-Cola’s Asa Candler and at 17 stories tall, was one of the tallest buildings in the city.
