Central Atlanta Progress Celebrates a “Rediscovery of Downtown”
at 2018 Annual Meeting & Awards Celebration
Event will honor Downtown leaders and institutions and commemorate CAP/ADID accomplishments

ATLANTA – Central Atlanta Progress (CAP) and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (ADID) will host their 2018 Annual Meeting & Awards Celebration on Thursday, March 29 at the Georgia World Congress Center’s Sidney Marcus Auditorium. Beginning with registration and a networking breakfast at 7:00 a.m., more than 1,000 of the city’s top business and civic leaders will enjoy a compelling and engaging program hosted by CAP leadership and special guests.

Themed Rediscover Downtown, the event will showcase the organization’s recent accomplishments, which range from the Downtown Atlanta Master Plan community engagement effort to Woodruff Park improvements. As many are rediscovering their love for Downtown Atlanta’s vibrancy, history, authenticity, and accessibility, there’s no better time to honor the importance and vitality of the center city.

“I can’t say I’ve ever been a fan of terms like ‘Downtown renaissance’ or ‘Downtown revitalization,’” said CAP/ADID President A.J. Robinson. “Rather, I tend to think of this unique chapter as a ‘rediscovery of Downtown.’ This year, we invite the community to experience the renewed energy, creativity, and focus on Downtown by joining us at our signature annual event.”

CAP will formally install its 2018-19 leadership, and, in keeping with tradition, present three prestigious awards to community iconoclasts. Former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin will receive the Dan Sweat Award, and Mary Ann Hearn of the Atlanta Convention and Visitor’s Bureau will be given the Turner Downtown Community Leadership Award. The Marcus Downtown Economic Impact Award will be presented to Grady Health System. Information about the 2018 award winners can be found at http://bit.ly/cap2018awards

The 2018 CAP/ADID Annual Meeting is presented by Delta Air Lines and made possible through the generous support of Gold Level sponsors Jones Lang LaSalle, Troutman Sanders and Selig Enterprises. Silver Level sponsors include Alston & Bird LLP, Cox Enterprises, Jacobs, Legacy Ventures, PNC Financial Services Group, Smith, Gambrell & Russell LLP, Cooper Carry and SunTrust Bank. Bronze Level sponsors are Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP, Jones Day, Outfront Media and Silverman Construction Program Management Inc.

There’s no better opportunity to influence and inspire new clients, network with business associates, meet new contacts, and stay informed on what’s happening in the heart of the city. Tickets are available for purchase online at http://bit.ly/capamac2018
