Sept. 10, the Centennial Park District in downtown Atlanta is celebrating Atlanta United’s move into their new home, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, with a day of soccer fun. The district is the Southeast’s premier destination for soccer fans with lively sports bars, comfortable hotels and restaurants for every taste and budget, all within walking distance of the new stadium.

“We’re excited to welcome the Atlanta United team and their fans to the Centennial Park District,” district spokesperson Wilma Southern said in a news release. “As Atlanta becomes the soccer hub of the South, we invite fans to visit the district and take advantage of the great restaurants, bars and attractions, all within walking distance of the new state-of-the-art stadium.”

Spend Soccer Kickoff Day in the district and enjoy soccer-filled fun from morning to night:

Noon to 3 p.m.: The festivities begin with the soccer fan meetup in the district at a soccer hub, Der Biergarten, just a short walk from the stadium. Fans of the German national team know it to be a home base to fill up on food and drink, and now Atlanta United fans are invited to cheer on their hometown team while watching from one of the many flat screen TVs. Fans can also participate in outdoor activities, like giant beer pong and other yard games.

3:30 p.m.: Kick off the first game at the new Mercedes-Benz stadium.

7 to 10 p.m.: Continue the festivities in the district by challenging fellow soccer enthusiasts to games at Game-X, all while quenching your postgame hunger and thirst with its full menu.

10 p.m.: Cap off the night at one of the district’s nearby hotel bars where fans can celebrate their team’s victories or drown their sorrows before returning to one of the many luxury rooms for a restful night’s sleep.

The Centennial Park District is Atlanta’s premier entertainment district, where visitors have world-class attractions, interesting eateries, luxurious hotels and Centennial Olympic Park all within a short walking distance. Plus, Atlanta Streetcar and MARTA stops in the district make this part of the city accessible to Atlanta United fans with or without a car.
