Commerce Club and One Ninety One Club to Combine
New Club to be Located Atop One Ninety One Peachtree Tower

Oct. 5, 2009 - (Atlanta, Ga.) – The Commerce Club and One Ninety One Club have entered into an agreement to combine memberships in a new club to be located on the 49th floor of One Ninety One Peachtree Tower in downtown Atlanta.

The combined club will operate under the name of The Commerce Club and will be operated by a ClubCorp affiliate. A board of directors will be formed consisting of legacy members from each club.

The arrangement is expected to be finalized in early 2010, pending the signing of a lease, acceptance of a design and awarding of a construction contract.

“This is an exciting moment for the One Ninety One Club and Commerce Club,” said Tom Bell, chairman of the One Ninety One Club. “The members of both clubs will benefit significantly from this combination. They will enjoy first-class dining and meeting space, outstanding programs and events, access to a state-of-the-art health club, and a spectacular view of the city.”

Commerce Club Chairman David Ratcliffe noted that the combination will occur during The Commerce Club’s 50th anniversary year of 2010. “As the central meeting place for business and civic leaders, The Commerce Club has served as host to a lot of Atlanta and Georgia history over the past half century,” he said. “There is much more history to be made, with our new club as a key venue atop one of the Southeast’s premier landmarks.”

Bell and Ratcliffe emphasized that special attention will be dedicated to preserving the rich heritages of the clubs as reflected in programming, service and architectural elements. Consistent with the clubs’ shared mission of professionally advancing their members, programs and events will continue during and after the combination.

A defined timetable will be finalized in the coming months. Even before the new club quarters are completed, members of both clubs will begin to benefit from the relationship. It is anticipated that, beginning in early 2010, members will have access to both The Commerce Club and the One Ninety One Club and their various amenities including programming and the health club currently affiliated with the One Ninety One Club.
