At the onset of 2016, Central Atlanta Progress and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District marked the launch of a new, year-long series of programming, the Monthly Atlanta Streetcar Experience. Designed to encourage the use of alternative forms of transportation and celebrate the people and places that characterize Atlanta’s central city, the Monthly Streetcar Experience offers an inside glimpse into the diverse neighborhoods along the Streetcar line. Each month spotlights one of the 12 stops along the route. From a tour of civil rights landmarks in the King Historic District to an exploration of attractions near Centennial Olympic Park, every stop offers a distinctly Downtown experience. The Atlanta Streetcar is both transportation and tour guide as riders explore the landmarks and hidden gems that shape the Downtown landscape.
In addition to the curated stop experiences, key Downtown stakeholders and CAP partners and members will have an opportunity to enjoy an evening of networking, socializing and celebration. Each exclusive event will be held at a cornerstone establishment that brings character and life to the neighborhood surrounding the month’s featured Streetcar stop.
The areas surrounding each Streetcar stop offer a vibrant blend of businesses, sites and culture. They are distinct communities that, together, form a diverse, urban network connected by the rail line. The Monthly Streetcar Experience encourages exploration and adventure, compelling tourists and locals alike to delve into Downtown Atlanta’s diverse culture, cuisine and characters. Ride the rails, connect with your city, and discover your Atlanta Streetcar Experience.
Monthly sites, events, tours and updates will be regularly featured on the Downtown Atlanta Facebook page, facebook.com/atlantadowntown and website, www.atlantadowntown.com.
