Georgia Center for Nonprofits Announces Georgia Gives Day - November 13th

October 29,2013

On the heels of great success in 2012, the Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN) is kicking off its second annual Georgia Gives Day on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013. This online fundraiser will benefit participating local nonprofits across the state, as Georgians come together for a 24-hour day of giving.

Georgia Gives Day brings the state together as one community to help build capacity for local charities throughout Georgia. In 2012, the inaugural Georgia Gives Day brought more than 1,300 participating nonprofits together with nearly 7,000 unique donors in one day of giving via the Georgia Gives Day website.  To date, Georgia Gives has raised more than $900,000 for these nonprofits.

“We are excited and grateful for the outpouring of support we’ve already received for this year’s event,” said Karen Beavor, president and CEO of GCN. “The support we’ve received from our partners so far has moved us one step closer to surpassing our success in 2012.”

In 2013, GCN has set a goal of attracting 10,000 unique donors on Georgia Gives Day, expanding their reach by making substantial upgrades to the website. GCN will also recruit additional nonprofits to participate, leverage incentive funds from corporate and foundation partners and raise visibility of the event through media partners and their own social media.  To date, Georgia Gives has received the support of Gov. Nathan Deal, Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, Secretary of State Brian Kemp and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed.

All nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) designation are invited to participate free of charge.  Learn more by visiting the www.gagivesday.org.
