Lazarus Ministries Hosts Neighborhood Beautification Day

July 25,2013

On Sunday, July 28, Lazarus Ministries will host its first Neighborhood Beautification Day. In order to be a good steward of the neighborhood it has served for over twelve years, the organization will clean up a section of downtown often filled with litter.

The area to be cleaned up surrounds Gateway Center, an organization with which Lazarus has partnered for several years, bounded by Peachtree Street to the west, Trinity Avenue SW to the north, Pryor Street SW to the east, and Memorial Drive SW to the south.

Waste left behind after various events and outreaches held in the area can be a nuisance to residents and visitors, and can inhibit groups from doing more for the poor in the neighborhood, a problem Lazarus wishes to rectify with its event.

According to Ben Parks, Lazarus Ministries’ Atlanta Director, “The vision of Lazarus is to see the homeless set free from spiritual, emotional, relational, and financial deprivation. We believe that the environment in which they exist has a lot to do with these goals. The Beautification Day will organize volunteers to go downtown to serve Atlanta with our friends in the neighborhood.”

The event will be held on Sunday, July 28, from 3–5 pm. Volunteers will meet either at Trinity Anglican Mission (2270 Defoor Hills Rd, Atlanta 30318) or downtown. Gloves and bags will be provided.

Partnering with Lazarus for this event are Gateway Center, Action Ministries Welcome House, and Trinity Youth; Home Depot is donating gloves and bags.
