PRISM: Winter Lights Illuminates Woodruff Park

ADID partners with Dashboard to curate parkwide light experience

 featuring 10 local/national artists

ATLANTA (November 5, 2019) - The Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (ADID) and Dashboard announce PRISM: Winter Lights at Woodruff Park, a 3-month installation displaying vibrant, light-based sculptures by artists from around the country.

“Activating Woodruff Park during all seasons of the year is a priority for ADID,” said Ansley Whipple, Woodruff Park Project Manager, “and we are thrilled to partner with Dashboard to illuminate Woodruff this winter with unique pieces of art we hope will inspire and delight park visitors.”

Located in the heart of Downtown Atlanta, Woodruff Park spans six acres and serves as a key starting point for exploring the city. PRISM: Winter Lights will spread throughout the park, enhancing existing landmarks like the International Peace Fountain and its ionic gazebo with geometric sculptures, “upcycled” lights, and a light garden.

“Prompting artists to work with light and find inspiration in “crystalline ice caves” can only lead to magic, right?” Dashboard Executive Director Beth Malone said. “We’re grateful to ADID and Woodruff Park for the invitation and can’t wait to share PRISM with Atlanta.”

Arts and Entertainment Atlanta, a neighborhood activation and economic development effort led by ADID, will also participate in PRISM by showcasing complementary artwork created by Zoo as Zoo and Sebastian Monroy on Peachtree Center’s newly-installed digital sign at 235 Peachtree Street.

PRISM is a free and public light experience on display in the park December 2019 through February 2020. All are invited to attend the opening event on Saturday, December 7, which will feature music, activities, and food and drink vendors.
