Urban Picnics are Back at the Sweet Auburn Curb Market

March 2,2011

According to the calendar, the official first day of spring is still a few days away, but on March 12, the first Urban Picnic of 2011 will take place at the Sweet Auburn Curb Market, a sure sign that spring is here. Fans of Atlanta’s food trucks and street food vendors cannot wait to come to the fun Urban Picnic downtown to sample delicious new culinary treats that were developed during the quiet winter months.

Started in 2010, the beloved Urban Picnics will again this year take place regularly at Atlanta’s historic Sweet Auburn Curb Market downtown. Between six and ten food trucks and street food vendors will sell their culinary creations to an eager crowd of Atlanta’s food lovers and area residents. Some of the mobile chefs who have already committed to park their food truck at the March 12 Urban Picnic site include Westside Creamery, serving artisanal ice creams and sorbets made from local ingredients, The Good Food Truck with their signature Poodle hotdog served on a French toast bun, topped with apple maple slaw, spicy mustard, and maple syrup, Blue Tailed Lizard introducing its tasty tamales, Ciao Boca doing meatball sliders, and Yumbii serving delicious Korean BBQ tacos.

“The Urban Picnics are popular with Atlanta ‘foodies’ as well as with our regular vendors and restaurateurs; these events bring new shoppers to our public market, and everyone always has such a great time,” says Pamela Joiner, General Manager. “Come try a Poodle, buy some barbeque from Westside Organic BBQ Pork, or treat yourself to Coconut Key Lime Sorbet from Westside Creamery.”
