Volunteer & Be Part of the 2013 NCAA® Men’s Final Four® Tournament Action

January 15,2013

April 2013 will be a basketball extravaganza in Atlanta as the city will host the 2013 NCAA Men’s Final Four tournament at the Georgia Dome and, for the first time in tournament history, the Division II and III championships at Philips Arena. In order to make Final Four weekend a true success, the Atlanta Local Organizing Committee (ALOC) is seeking more than 2,000 volunteers to help with everything from greeting guests at Atlanta hotels to assisting with youth and community events that are expected to draw thousands of locals and visitors from April 5 – 8.  This year will be Atlanta’s fourth time hosting the Final Four and marks the 75th celebration of March Madness.

Online volunteer registration is officially open to the public at www.volunteerfinalfouratl.com.  Potential volunteers will find all of the opportunities listed with descriptions, photos from previous Final Four tournaments and videos.  Early registration is recommended as selection of volunteer opportunities is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“We are grateful to the dedicated volunteers who make these monumental events possible. Like the 1996 Summer Olympics and previous Final Fours held in our city, Atlanta will once again be on a world stage in 2013.  Not only based on the 100,000 visitors expected to come to experience Final Four weekend, but also because the event is shown in more than 200 countries around the world,” said Sharon Goldmacher, president of communications 21 and executive director of the 2013 ALOC. “We know our volunteers are the best in the country with their unique combination of charm, Southern hospitality and willingness to help at a moment’s notice.  We plan on making the 2013 tournament and celebration of 75 years of March Madness the best ever!”

Volunteers need to commit to at least three shifts ranging from three to five hours each and the NCAA requires volunteer background checks.  Each volunteer also will need to attend a training session in March prior to the Final Four.
