Downtown Atlanta’s Woodruff Park Presents

“Summer in Woodruff” Program Series

Free community programming scheduled June through August

ATLANTA – Woodruff Park, Downtown Atlanta’s beloved greenspace, will launch its summer programming series today, enticing a variety of Downtown audiences—from weekday professionals to weekend visitors— to enjoy the park’s amenities during the summer months.

In support of the park’s long-standing efforts to promote wellness, park-goers can enjoy free weekly meditation classes on Tuesdays during lunch and free vinyasa yoga classes on Saturday mornings. Both sets of classes will be facilitated by professional instructors and are ideal for beginners and experts alike.

Capitalizing on the Woodruff Park Reading Room’s vibrant weekday activity, a lineup of local musical talent will perform each week during the “Wednesdays at Woodruff” set, energizing this already popular lunchtime hotspot with live concert performances.

Finally, a brand new program will make its debut. Beginning June 22, the public can participate in free guided tours of the park three times a month, during which the history of the park and its surrounding neighborhood will be explored, in addition to park points of interest and nearby public art.

This new program series highlights Woodruff Park’s exciting revitalization, stewarded by Ansley Whipple, the recently-hired Woodruff Park Project Manager.

“We are excited to launch a summer program series that includes opportunities for the community to enjoy this public space,” Whipple said. “We are always open to community partnerships that bring programming to Woodruff and feel that this is the beginning of an exciting period of growth for the park.”
